Is it really God’s Word?
November 8, 2008
I came across a quotation today which floored me. Me, a man who grew up in the SDA church, attended church school through college and then began raise my children in the church. I was raised to believe that the Bible was the Word of God. We would never question anything that was written there just as we would never question anything that Ellen White wrote. They are God’s Word to his Chosen People, the SDA’s! We were bringing the 3 Angel’s Messages to the world. We were the Remnant People of God.
Check this out! I am SO ANGRY that I have been deceived for most of my life. My parents, my church, my teachers, my pastor, they all mislead me about this woman, Ellen White. They have actively conspired to hide and deceive.
“The Bible is written by inspired men, but it is not God’s mode of thought and expression. It is that of humanity. God, as a writer, is not represented. Men will often say such an expression is not like God. But God has not put Himself in words, in logic, in rhetoric, on trial in the Bible. The writers of the Bible were God’s penmen, not His pen. Look at the different writers.” (Selected Messages, book 1, pages 19-22)
Say what? Ellen White is saying that the bible is fallible! In the name of Jesus I reject that thought and her! Anyone else have problems with what this she wrote?
Has anyone read anywhere in the Bible where it downplay’s another part of the bible to validate themselves? Does Paul ever say that Isaiah may be inspired by God but it isn’t actually God’s Word. Did Luke ever question what Moses wrote?
Of course not! God works through men. The Holy Spirit, through men, wrote the scriptures. If you can’t depend on their divine inspiration than all that is left is to depend on ourselves, man.
When a bible author says “God said…..” that means My God said it. Evidently the God that EGW serves didn’t. The bible says that we are to compare everything to the scriptures. Why would it do that if the scriptures were fallible? But when I try to compare EGW’s writings with the bible I am shut down. Is this right? NO!
Shalom
